Creative Schools
We were delighted to install our beautiful living willow teepee on campus today—an exciting and meaningful addition to our school environment. Guided by Aoife from Wicklow Willow, the children led the work with great enthusiasm, calm focus, and interest.
Green Schools and Creative Schools collaborated on the project, with our third classes joining throughout the day. The children learned about willow as a native tree, its value for pollinators, and how this living structure will grow and change with the seasons.
Located in a sunny, peaceful spot near the back of the astro, the teepee is a space for everyone in our school community to enjoy for years to come.
This project was supported by a Heritage Keepers Grant (Burren, Co. Clare), covering 83% of the cost.
Thank you to Aoife for her guidance, and especially to the children whose efforts brought this special project to life.
We hope you enjoy the photos from a memorable day.
We were so lucky in Ms Francis' 2nd Class to have two visits today! We started our day off with a clay workshop for Creative Schools and then had a visit from Claire & her guidedog Holly. We learned so much about guidedogs and we were delighted to be able to pet Holly at the end!
Thank you to the students who entered this year’s competition. We received hundreds of creative and innovative entries before the closing date of 12 February. Our school has proudly had both regional and national winners in recent years, and we hope for more success again this year. We will share updates when available. Thank you to all students and teachers who took part.
