Creative Schools
We were so lucky in Ms Francis' 2nd Class to have two visits today! We started our day off with a clay workshop for Creative Schools and then had a visit from Claire & her guidedog Holly. We learned so much about guidedogs and we were delighted to be able to pet Holly at the end!
Thank you to the students who entered this year’s competition. We received hundreds of creative and innovative entries before the closing date of 12 February. Our school has proudly had both regional and national winners in recent years, and we hope for more success again this year. We will share updates when available. Thank you to all students and teachers who took part.
The final week before midterm was Creative Week. Students completed creative homework and shared their work during Friday’s show and tell — it was great fun! Classes also enjoyed daily “Drop Everything and Draw” sessions, which proved very popular.
Some classes took part in live creative workshops, including Shapes and Senses in Nature and Art, Mandalas in Nature, Your Body is an Instrument, and Drawing from Nature: Hedgerows and Habitat.
Additional school workshops during Creative Week included felting with creative associate Gabi McGrath (3rd and 6th classes), origami with Ailbhe Ó Daly (5th and 6th classes), and drawing and comic strip workshops with Pan Clarke (4th classes). Upcoming Creative Schools activities will include clay, fabric, and weaving workshops, with further elements currently being planned.
Many highlights from the week are featured in the Creative Schools section of our website. Thank you for your continued support of Creative Week and the Creative Schools programme.
