On Friday morning, parents joined our 5th and 6th Class students for a Daily Mile run around the Mount Eden campus. It was brilliant to see pupils, teachers, and parents running, chatting, and laughing together.
The energy and encouragement on display showed what great community spirit we have at St. Mary’s NS. A huge thank you to everyone who took part and helped make the morning so enjoyable!
Our runners are now looking forward to what should be a fantastic day out at Irishtown Stadium in Ringsend as part of the Marathon Kids Programme. We can’t wait to cheer them on as they cross the finish line! 🏅
We’re delighted to be starting our Skip Around Europe challenge! We can’t wait to get skipping and see how far we’ll go on our journey across Europe!
Today, Our class demonstrated fantastic leadership skills by inviting our buddy class, Ms. Callaghan’s 2nd Class, to take part in a PE lesson.
Four boys from our class took on the role of PE instructors, guiding the younger pupils through a full session that included a warm-up, a game of dodgeball, and a cool-down.
The lesson was a great success – fun for everyone involved and a valuable learning experience for the 6th Class students as they developed their confidence, communication, and leadership abilities.
Our class are taking part in the exciting MarathonKids Ireland initiative! Over the next 8 weeks, we’ll be running four or five times a week, building up to an incredible achievement – running a full marathon distance of 26.2 miles!
This week, we had the opportunity to take part in a webinar with Olympian David Gillick, who inspired us by speaking about the many benefits of sport, regular exercise, and healthy eating. His message really motivated us to stay active and look after our bodies and minds.
All the 5th and 6th classes in the school are getting involved, and we’re proud to be part of such a fun, challenging, and healthy programme. Stay tuned to see our progress!
As part of our Wellbeing Week at St. Mary’s, we had the wonderful opportunity to experience a rejuvenating yoga session led by Greg with our First Class students. The session was not just engaging but also a perfect introduction to mindfulness and self-care for our young learners.
Greg’s approach was both warm and encouraging, making it easy for the children to connect with the practice. A special highlight of the class was the focus on mindful breathing. It was delightful to see our pupils embrace these techniques with enthusiasm, learning how to centre themselves and find calm amidst their busy school day.
Thank you, Greg, for contributing to the success of our Wellbeing Week and inspiring our First Class students with the gift of mindfulness and yoga.
Namaste!
