This week, our Senior Infants had great fun exploring science in the sweetest way possible using Skittles. The children gathered around in small groups and carefully placed the colourful sweets in a circle on their plates. With lots of excitement (and a few guesses about what might happen), they slowly poured warm water into the middle.
Very quickly, the magic began! The colours started to spread and swirl across the plate, creating beautiful rainbow patterns. The children watched closely, noticing how the colours moved and mixed. We talked about why this happens and how the sugar dissolves in the water.
It was a simple experiment that sparked wonderful curiosity, great observations, and plenty of smiles. A perfect Science Week activity for our young scientists!
