Ms Finnegan’s and Ms Grace’s class trip to the post box

9th Dec 2025

There was great excitement in Ms Finnegan’s and Ms Grace’s Senior Infant classes this week as the children prepared very special invitations for their parents. Ahead of their upcoming Nativity play, the boys and girls worked hard to write personalised invitations, taking great care with their handwriting and practicing their very best letter formation.

Once the invitations were ready, the children learned how to address an envelope properly. They wrote the full address themselves, added a stamp, and made sure everything was ready for the post. This simple task brought huge smiles and a real sense of pride, as many of the children were posting something independently for the very first time.

The trip to the post box was a highlight. There was plenty of excitement as each child had the chance to pop their envelope into the post box and listen to it drop inside. It was a lovely mix of learning and real-life experience.

Activities like this are not only enjoyable but also hugely beneficial educationally. The children got hands-on practice with writing for a real purpose, learned about how the postal system works, and developed important life skills such as addressing letters and understanding how messages travel from one place to another. It also encouraged independence, responsibility, and a sense of connection between school and home.

We can’t wait for the parents to receive their special deliveries—and for everyone to enjoy the Nativity performance soon!
