RTE Drivetime Visits Our School to find out more about our School Garden and the GIY programme.
On Tuesday 19th June, RTÉ Radio 1 reporter Una Kelly from Drivetime visited our school to see what is growing in our garden and to interview pupils and staff about our involvement in the Grow It Yourself (GIY) programme.
We had a fantastic morning with Una and the wonderful Mary Bishop from Grow HQ in Waterford.
The attached 7-minute segment aired on RTÉ Drivetime that same day — a fantastic opportunity for our pupils and school community!
Mary had previously visited our school on 10th June to run a workshop with the Green-Schools Committee. She later brought the children to the garden for some harvesting and sowing activities. We were delighted to welcome Mary for both visits and are so grateful for the enriching experience she provided.
We are incredibly proud of our Green-Schools Committee and all the work they have done this year — from turning off lights and ensuring we recycle properly, to counting bikes and scooters, and being fantastic ambassadors for the environment and our school. We would like to sincerely thank them for their participation, enthusiasm, and hard work throughout the year.
Photos from both events are attached.
