Friends For Life programme in Sixth class!

12th Mar 2026

Ms. O’Donnell has begun teaching the FRIENDS for Life programme to the three Sixth Classes every Wednesday afternoon. Each pupil has received their own FRIENDS for Life booklet, and every week they complete family activities at home with their parents or family members. This helps to reinforce the important skills being learned in class and encourages discussion at home.

The FRIENDS for Life programme aims to help children build emotional resilience, develop confidence, and learn practical strategies for coping with worries, stress, and everyday challenges.

The programme teaches important life skills through the acronym FRIENDS:

  • F – Feelings

  • R – Remember to relax

  • I – I can try! I can do my best!

  • E – Explore coping plans and solutions

  • N – Now reward yourself

  • D – Don’t forget to practice

  • S – Smile and stay calm for life

Through the programme, pupils learn how to recognise their feelings, develop positive thinking, practise relaxation strategies, solve problems, and build confidence when facing challenges.

We hope the Sixth Class pupils enjoy the programme and benefit from the valuable life skills they will develop throughout the coming weeks.
