A Festive Week in Ms. O’Donnell’s Sixth Class!
Ms. O’Donnell’s class really got into the festive spirit this week — bhí atmaisféar iontach sa rang! On Tuesday, the boys and girls were busy revising our recipe for delicious festive gingerbread cookies and preparing detailed shopping lists. Some pupils even took on the challenge of calculating the total cost of all the ingredients — fíor-mhata sa saol fíor!
On Wednesday, the excitement continued as we mixed and prepared our very own gingerbread dough. By Thursday, the classroom had transformed into a mini Christmas bakery. Using the air fryer, we baked tray after tray of warm, golden gingerbread cookies. The smell of Christmas drifted down the corridor as the children kneaded, rolled, and carefully cut out their festive shapes. Bhí gach duine gnóthach agus sona!
The highlight of the week was seeing the thrilled faces of the boys and girls as they brought home their own bag of festive treats — a perfect start to the Christmas season. Our recipe was Donal Skehan’s “Crisp Gingerbread Biscuits”, so if anyone would like to try them at home, we highly recommend giving them a go!
To finish, here is a lovely reminder of what baking brings to learning and life:
“Baking teaches patience, precision, creativity, and confidence — the sweetest ingredients for a child’s growth.”
Nollaig shona daoibh go léir! 🎄🍪
