Mission Statement and Ethos

Saint Mary’s National School is a Roman Catholic national school, catering for boys and girls from Junior Infants to Sixth Class, under the patronage of the Most Reverend Diarmuid Martin, Archbishop of Dublin. The school follows the religious programme as prescribed by the Education Secretariat of the Archdiocese of Dublin. As a Catholic school, we provide religious education for the pupils in accordance with the doctrines, practices and tradition of the Roman Catholic Church and promote the formation of the pupils in the Catholic Faith. All classes mark the significant events and seasons in the Liturgical Calendar. The Board of Management facilitates collaboration between the school and the parish, particularly in relation to preparation for the sacraments. Our school aspires to create a learning environment that is happy and child-centred, which fosters a sense of community and nurtures respect for others in an atmosphere of inclusion and encouragement

Mission Statement

St Mary’s aims to create an inclusive, respectful, safe, caring and happy environment in which all children will be enabled to reach their full potential. St Mary’s aims to create a rich learning environment where the children can flourish and develop both cognitively and emotionally. In the context of a broad curriculum, St Mary’s aims to develop the intellectual, spiritual, physical, moral and social wellbeing of each child. While St Mary’s provides religious education in accordance with the practices and traditions of the Roman Catholic Church, the school recognises and is respectful of other religious beliefs and none. Our aim is to create a school which is a happy, fulfilling place for children, full of friendship and learning.

Our school community, which includes the teaching and ancillary staff and the Board of Management, works in partnership to meet the needs of our pupils. We recognise the uniqueness of each child and we aim to nurture and promote the value and dignity of each person in the school and in so doing, develop a respect for diversity and difference. We recognise parents and guardians as the primary educators and we encourage their support and collaboration in the education of their children.
