Here at St Mary's we place huge importance in the PE curriculum. We have a dedicated, hard-working teaching staff that are committed to educating the children with regards to their physical literacy and health with a healthy balance between involvement and competition. In addition to the wealth of experienced and enthusiastic classroom teachers in the school, we also are proud to have Ms Gretchen Dawson, a third level lecturer in PE come in every week to teach a half an hour of PE to each class.
On top of the PE instruction that takes place in the school, physical education is integrated across the curriculum and can be seen in various maths activities, nature trails, science experiments and we even had an orienteering treasure hunt as Gaeilge le linn Seachtain na Gaeilge!
All of this, added to the initiatives that we have undertaken as part of our bid to receive an Active Schools' Flag (10 at 10, Run Around Europe, GoNoodle, Walk and Talk, etc.), as well as the growing range of extra -curricular activities available before and after school (GAA, Basketball, Soccer, Athletics, Yoga, Golf, Tennis, etc.), demonstrates the school's undeniable commitment to Physical Education.
