We have been learning all about transport this month. We have had so much fun talking about all the different types of transport and their uses. Then we got to draw them and build them at our Junk Art station. We used all sorts of materials to make cars, planes and even rockets!
We love to build things in Junior Infants. We have started to plan before we build. We chose what material we wanted to use and drew some lovely pictures and then we got to build! Look how well they turned out!
We have been busy learning all about Spring in Junior Infants. We have been learning about all the changes that happen in Springtime. We talked all about baby animals and how busy farms are during the Spring looking after them. Then we were lucky enough to get a visit from some baby animals! A petting zoo came to the school and we learned all about the different animals and what they like to eat.
We learned all about the changes that happen to the world around us too. We planted seeds and watered them every day, we can’t wait to watch them grow into flowers. Then we got to go on a nature walk with Ms Darcy’s class to look for all the signs of Spring around our school. We saw lovely flowers, birds building nests, lots of little lady birds and busy bees buzzing around.
This week we got a visit from Vance. He is an ambassador dog from the Irish Guide Dogs. We learned all about the puppies training and how they help people in need. We got to ask lost of questions and found out about how the dogs know where the bus stop is! Then everyone got a go at petting him, he was lovely.
We had so much fun during Seachtain na Gaeilge. We did lots of fun activities like a treasure hunt, a table quiz and lots of fun games.
Fifth class came to our class and helped us to write sentences in Irish! Bhí an spórt againn leo.
Giggles an Fear Grinn came to visit our class. He made us balloons and did magic tricks. Bhí sé greannmhar!
On Friday we had a Lá Glas, we all got to wear green clothes and we did a parade around the school.
We even learned our favourite song 'Shotgun' as Gaeilge and performed it in front of the other classes at the Ceolchoirm.
In January we were learning all about houses and homes. Here are some of the different things we did.
We read the story the Three Little Pigs and talked about all the things the pigs used to make their houses. Then we did an experiment in our class where we made the pig's houses out of Lego, straw, blocks and lollipop sticks. We predicted which houses the wolf might blow down and why that would happen. We pretended the hairdryer was the Big Bad Wolf and he tried to blow the houses down.
The construction site was very busy! We used lots of different building blocks from our classroom to make different types of houses and rooms. Some boys and girls even built a tower that could touch the ceiling!
We love Art in Junior Infants so we had to make some houses. We did junk art and made small houses for the pigs to live in using paper straws and lollipop sticks. Then we worked in our groups to make big houses, we couloured them in and cut and stuck the furniture into the right rooms.
We even had a Real Estate Agents in our class. We learned about all the different types of houses and had lots of fun buying and selling them!
