This week we got a visit from Vance. He is an ambassador dog from the Irish Guide Dogs. We learned all about the puppies training and how they help people in need. We got to ask lost of questions and found out about how the dogs know where the bus stop is! Then everyone got a go at petting him, he was lovely.
We had so much fun during Seachtain na Gaeilge. We did lots of fun activities like a treasure hunt, a table quiz and lots of fun games.
Fifth class came to our class and helped us to write sentences in Irish! Bhí an spórt againn leo.
Giggles an Fear Grinn came to visit our class. He made us balloons and did magic tricks. Bhí sé greannmhar!
On Friday we had a Lá Glas, we all got to wear green clothes and we did a parade around the school.
We even learned our favourite song 'Shotgun' as Gaeilge and performed it in front of the other classes at the Ceolchoirm.
In January we were learning all about houses and homes. Here are some of the different things we did.
We read the story the Three Little Pigs and talked about all the things the pigs used to make their houses. Then we did an experiment in our class where we made the pig's houses out of Lego, straw, blocks and lollipop sticks. We predicted which houses the wolf might blow down and why that would happen. We pretended the hairdryer was the Big Bad Wolf and he tried to blow the houses down.
The construction site was very busy! We used lots of different building blocks from our classroom to make different types of houses and rooms. Some boys and girls even built a tower that could touch the ceiling!
We love Art in Junior Infants so we had to make some houses. We did junk art and made small houses for the pigs to live in using paper straws and lollipop sticks. Then we worked in our groups to make big houses, we couloured them in and cut and stuck the furniture into the right rooms.
We even had a Real Estate Agents in our class. We learned about all the different types of houses and had lots of fun buying and selling them!
In Junior Infants we do PE every week with Nikki. We love playing games and learning new things in class. This term we have been practising lots of throwing, running, hitting and dodging. We took pictures in our last class so we could show you what we did!
First we practised our underarm throwing. We we working in groups so we had to take turns and cheer each other on. We stood in one hoola hoop and threw the bean bag into the hoola hoop at the other end of the yard. We use our tick tock pass to help us with our underarm throwing!
Next Nikki had a great game for us, we each got a ball and had to balance it on a special cone just like a ice cream. We really had to concentrate on balancing the ball for this game! Then Nikki made it harder and tried to knock our balls off our ice cream cones. Look how fast we ran!
Then to end the class we played one of our favourite games called the Alien Game. We have to run around the yard being very carful because there are lots of aliens we have to dodge as we are running.
We have been very busy this November working really hard and wanted to share some of our work with you. We hope you enjoy all the pictures!
We practise our sounds every day in class. We love using different materials to practise writing our sounds, like stamps, white boards, blocks and even shaving foam!
We have been talking lots about food and the Restaurant this month. We have learnt about all the people who help us in the Restaurant and we have had lots of fun making pizzas in our Class Restaurant, Base.
We do lots of other fun things during Aistear like making jigsaws, constructing things with Lego and blocks, playing with play-dough, cutting and sticking, junk art, making patterns with beads and links.Take a look at some of the different things we made!
We have read lots of stories this month including Handa's Surprise, The Enormous Turnip, The Very Hungry Catterpillar and Goldilocks and the Three Bears. We love doing art and we made all the different fruits from Handas Surprise by tearing up lots of paper and sticking it to a background. Rafe, Shauna and Genivieve all worked together to make the basket!
We hope you enjoyed all the pictures and be sure to come back soon to see what else we get up to!
In October we went on a Nature Walk to Herbert Park. All the Junior Infant classes went together, it was great fun! We even got to go see the ducks in the pond.
We all got a special helper from Mr Joynts fourth class. They helped us cross the road when we were on our way to the park and showed us where to go.
When we got to the park we had to collect lots of things for our nature table. We looked all around the park to find different coloured leaves, conkers, acorns and flowers. The fourth class knew lots about the different leaves and seeds and showed us where to find them.
We took lots of pictures on our first day of school and we wanted to share them with everyone. We had a very exciting day getting to know all the boys and girls in our class. We made special hand prints to bring home for our Mummies and Daddies and we played with all the new toys in our class.
We went to Airfield farm on our school tour. We saw lots of animals including: lambs, donkeys, calves, cows, pigs, sheep and chickens. We also went on a bug hunt and we caught lots of mini beasts including 3 frogs! We planted some beans and we saw lots of vegetables growing in the garden. We loved travelling on the bus and eating our lunch altogether. We especially loved meeting billy the goat and learning the chinese chickens, they lay blue eggs! We saw a huge sheep called 'Dorset Sheep' they had big horns. We loved the Jersey cows and we saw where they are milked - their milk is particularly creamy! We learned so much, we were exhausted afterwards and so was Ms Finnegan!
