What an exciting first month we have had in school. We have made so many new friends and all the girls and boys have all done things that we didn't think we could do when we first walked through the doors of St Marys! We can't wait to see what October has in store for us!
Today, all of the boys and girls from Junior Infants to First Class brought in a teddy bear to participate in the Teddy Bear Olympics to celebrate Active Schools Week. We had lots of fun playing with our teddy bears throughout the day and we can't wait for next year's Olympics already!
Yesterday we had our first school sports day! We walked down to Herbert Park in the morning and ran, jumped and played the day away! Later that afternoon, we got an ice lolly to cool down after all of the exercise we did!
Junior Infants relaxed and read their books outside in our school garden today. They all enjoyed reading and relaxing in the sunshine!
We are really enjoying Seachtain na Gaeilge in Junior Infants. This week, the boys and girls from rang a cúig visited our class to play games as Gaeilge. We learned lots of new words from them and we made funny sentences together. On Pancake Tuesday, we ate delicious pancakes with lemon and sugar. Thank you to the Parents Association and the Student Council for providing them. Today, Giggles an fear grinn visited our class and we thought he was really funny. He sang songs, made balloons and told us jokes! We loved speaking to him as Gaeilge. As it will be St. Patrick's Day this weekend, we are getting ready to celebrate in our class. Check out our wonderful St. Patrick's Day crowns!
This week, we are celebrating Seachtain na Gaeilge. We are trying to use as much Gaeilge as possible in Junior Infants. We love speaking as Gaeilge at school and at home! Yesterday, we went on a Treasure Hunt with Ms D'Arcy's class for Seachtain na Gaeilge!
Junior Infants have been busy learning all about houses and homes this month! We have learned the names of lots of types of houses, the rooms in our houses and different things we find at home. We have created different types of houses in art, built houses of different sizes, played with toy houses in our classroom, learned about houses as Gaeilge and we even set up an Estates Agents in Junior Infants! The children love choosing what types of houses to buy and sell. We have read lots of books about houses and homes such as The Three Little Pigs and the Lighthouse Keeper's Lunch. The boys and girls have also been very busy practising their new Tricky Words and we have started to use the school iPads to practise our reading. They are practising their Frásaí everyday and love to use them at school and at home!
This month, we are learning all about Houses and Homes in Junior Infants! This week, the boys and girls made houses with different materials and tested their strength!
We have been exploring and learning about 3D shapes in maths!
Welcome to Junior Infants!
