Our school choir gave a truly stunning performance at the official re-opening and blessing of our new school in Belmont on Wednesday 26th October 2016. Enjoy the video of their performance below. Well done to all students - you did us proud!
St Mary’s NS has always had a strong tradition in choral singing. This is due to the work and passion of a former teacher, Noelle Broderick-Forde who regrettably died prematurely following a lengthy illness. Ms. Anne Purcell, our school principal, was anxious to reignite the love of choral singing in St. Mary’s and with this in mind, St. Mary’s after-school choir was set up in September 2015. As one of the Musical Directors of the National Children’s Choir, Ms Purcell brings a wealth of expertise and experience in choral music to St. Mary’s.
St. Mary’s after-school choir rehearses on Mondays from 2:45 to 3:45 p.m. Through their participation in the school choir, the children will experience the unique joy of collaborative music-making while at the same time developing their individual musicality. All children from 3rd to 6th class are welcome to join St. Mary’s Choir. The choir will perform in competitive and non-competitive choral festivals throughout the school year. We hope you will have the opportunity to hear our wonderful new school choir at one of its performances during the year.
