Last week Mr Murray's Third Class was given an opportunity to conduct our very own interview with Dundalk FC Midfield player Gregg Sloggett ahead of his teams Europa League game against Arsenal at the AVIVA stadium.
The talk lasted 30 minutes and was conducted over a Zoom call.
Greg has a unique background compared to many footballers having obtained a degree in computer science from UCD prior to becoming a professional football player.
After learning about Gregg's interests in school, sports and Christmas we came up with a list of 14 questions that helped us learn more about what it is like to be a be a full time sportsman.
Putting our interview skills into practice, we broke up into small teams, each asking and writing down responses to each question.
Here are the Questions .....
- What does a professional footballer do during the week or what makes your job different to playing for teams that are not professional?
- Did you play other sports growing up? How do you stay active when you’re not playing football?
- What is your favourite match you have played in or trophy you have won?
- What is the biggest or coolest stadium you have played in?
- Do you play video games?
- Why did you go to college instead of finishing school when you were younger? Did you enjoy college?
- Did you like school? What was your favourite subject?
- What do you like about computer coding?
- How does it feel getting the chance to play against famous players and some of the best teams in Europe?
