We had such a fantastic day on our school tour on Tuesday in Causey Farm, Co. Meath. The boys and girls absolutely loved all the activities which were on offer, especially the bog jumping! Here is a few of the photos to give you a sample of our trip. We were all exhausted afterwards!

Third, fourth and fifth class were extremely lucky to be invited to watch a 'premiere' of Muckross Park's Transition Year production of "Beauty and the Beast" this morning. It was an absolutely breathtaking show with fantastic acting, singing and dancing. Many thanks to Muckross for inviting us and the very best of luck with your performance!
Rang a Trí had great fun on Friday. We began to learn about electricity. The boys and girls were given a wire, a battery and a bulb. They had to work together to figure out how to light the bulb, There was great excitement as they bulbs began to light up one by one. They figured out that the circuit has to be complete in order to make the bulb light.
The children had a great tme exploring with experiments like which materials conduct or insulate; how to set up a circuit with a continuous light; how to add a switch into the circuit and lots more! We also got great fun out of exploring kinetic energy with a motor.
Such was the enthusiasm that many opted to continue to use the electricity sets to create circuits during Golden Time! We look forward to continuing on with this great work next week. Here are a few pictures.
Here is a great game we have been working on in class to improve our tables. Give it a go at home and let us know what score you get!
A huge thank you to the PA for organising another fantastic drumming workshop this year. There is always great excitement from the children, who were on their best behaviour as usual and were actively engaged from beginning to end. Here are a few pictures to enjoy!
This week's challenge will NOT give points for speed. The focus for this week's quiz is on reading the question and answers properly and taking time to think. Best of luck!
If you are finished your homework early in the week, a challenge which I have for you is to construct and label a Norman castle similar to the ones learned about in class. You might use a cardboard box, kitchen roll tubes and other recyclable materials. Remember: it is very important to ask for help from an adult if using a scissors to cut out parts of the cardboard box.
You might prefer to draw and colour/paint a castle, labelling as many of the parts as possible: Drawbridge, portcullis, tower, turrets, battlements, bailey, moat, keep, gatehouse, arrowslit, barbican etc.
Third Class were very excited to have a yoga lesson with Mr. Joynt today as part of their PE. They began with a little relaxation by going over some breathing techniques learned, such as the balloon breath and conductor breath. Following this, they launched themselves into learning a few key poses, such as downwards facing dog, up dog, peaceful gorilla, rock pose and mountain pose. Third Class worked very hard on their sun salutation sequence and then had some fun with partner poses, such as the double boat and double tree pose.
We rounded off a fantastic yoga session with some relaxation time, where the class lay down, closed their eyes and focused on their breath.
Yoga is a fantastic means for children and adults alike to build mental and physical strength, positive self image and flexibility. Healthy bodies, healthy minds!
Thank you, Mr. Joynt! Here are some pictures to enjoy.
Fáilte go Rang a Trí!
