We are trialling a new website called IXL. We have signed up to a 30-day trial before we consider purchasing. It is a fantastic website with practice in every area of the Maths curriculum. The students have their own personalised account which gives feedback to the class teacher about each student's progress and what areas they need additional support in.
Each student will be given their individualised login which will be stapled inside their homework journal. Practise makes perfect! Here are the activity numbers I would recommend to reinforce areas covered in school to date:
A.1 Even or Odd
B.1 Place value models up to thousands
B.2 Place value names up to hundreds
B.3 Place value names up to thousands
We will be starting into Addition this week and 2D shapes next week. Many others are equally useful for regular practise, e.g. time/money/pattern. Hopefully you find it useful.
Spelling City has all of the Jolly Grammar word lists for Third Class. There are plenty of games and tests which are very useful for practising spellings during the week. It's also handy if the Grammar book is forgotten! Some of the games require a subscription, but there are many free ones. Here is the direct link, bringing you to the spelling lists:
For Maths, Topmarks has some fantastic games and activities. One which is particularly useful for building mental maths skills is the Daily Ten. You can adjust the level and the type of questions appropriate for your child's ability.
I'll post regularly with any other useful resources I come across.
