On Friday morning, we came into school dressed in our Halloween costumes. Everyone brought in money for Temple Street Children’s Hospital. Ms O Sullivan took our photos to put on the school website. We started to bake some treats, however, Ms Murphy asked us to go to the hall for the Halloween Fashion Show. Junior Infants went first on the runway. Then it was the Senior Infants turn. Finally, it was our turn! It was so much fun seeing all of the costumes. Katie won the prize for the best costume in our class. She dressed up as a DJ!
After that, we came upstairs and we finished our baking. We made chocolate rice krispie buns and white chocolate strawberry ghosts. They were delicious! Before lunch, we had a Halloween table quiz. We answered some Halloween questions. The winning team were the Gold Kids! They answered the most questions correctly.
Then we had our lunch. We were allowed a treat in our lunchbox on that day. It was great! After lunch, Ms Murphy stole our rice krispie buns but we got them back after some hustle and bustle. Then, we finished our spiders before we read a story. After, we ate the treats we had made. They were fantastic! That afternoon, we finished reading the BFG and coloured some Halloween pictures. Finally, it was time to go home. What a day!

We have been writing stories in 1st Class. Before we write our stories, we first think of interesting words that we could use and we plan our stories out. When we are writing, we sound out words that are tricky and remember to use punctuation. After we write our stories, we read over each sentence to check that they make sense!
Each week, some boys and girls read their stories to the class. We really enjoy listening to each others wonderful writing. Last week, in preparation for Halloween, we wrote a story entitled "A Haunted House". Eva wrote a wonderful story and typed it up for us to share on our class blog. Enjoy!
A Haunted House
One morning, very early, Ella woke up. She was very sleepy. She thought the dream she had was the best dream ever. She really tried to go back to sleep but she could not, so, she went over to the window and stared out. She remembered it was Halloween! Now that was what she called exciting. All of her friends would go out trick or treating today. They all had their very own costume. They were witches, ghosts, monsters, vampires, mummies, zombies and a dragon. Ella was so excited that she could hardly move.
That day, the seven children got closer and closer to a big spooky house. Ella was now really terrified. As each child got even closer to the house Ella got more scared. It was terrifying to see such a spooky house up close. Ella was going to run as fast as she could home to her Mum but she turned back. The seven children got closer and closer to the spooky house. When they got to the gate, she called the children back but they did not listen.
The door opened and Ella could hear it. It was so spooky. The children stepped even closer. An old lady opened the door and the children ran in. Ella was terrified! The old lady looked like a witch and she stared at Ella. She clicked suddenly. After the click, ghosts came running at Ella. She ran very fast and the ghosts were gone. The door closed behind them.
The spooky house was huge. Ella tried to make her way around. She saw the spooky witch with a black hat, a long cape, big black shoes, and a little black cat. She was very scary. She had green and grey hair. The witch got closer to Ella and she ran away. Then, she found the children looking very scared. She decided to made friends with them. They lived happily ever after.
