A massive thank you to the Student Council and Parents Association for organizing Pancake Tuesday in the school today! There were lots of happy faces from first class this morning. The pancakes were delicious!
First class had a wonderful day learning about different animals. We got to hold and pet animals such as rabbits, hamsters, guinea pigs and hens!
We also got to go outside and meet may larger animals too big for the classroom, such as the lama, pig, ducks and goats.
For past few weeks, we have been taking part in gymnastic games and fun activities. We have been practicing a variety of poses such as Pike, Straddle, Straight and Egg.
On Friday, we practiced our newly learned poses before taking part in some races. We also took a look some Olympic gymnasts perfecting these poses.
We had a lovely visit from our Grandparents today! Mr Murray enjoyed meeting everyone and was so happy everyone made a big effort to travel from all corners of the country. The children had a great time showing their Grandparents their work and giving them a little tour of our classroom. They also got to interview their grandparents and discover how school has changed since they were in school! A fantastic day for First class :)
First Class are preparing for Grandparents' Day. We are asking the children to bring in a photo or copy of a photo of their Grandparents for a special project we are working on. It can be 1 photo or 2 and can include all Grandparents or just Granny or Granddad. Looking forward to unveiling our special project! :)
On Friday, we had a look at Piet Mondrian's fine art work. We also got to try it out for ourselves!
Piet Mondrian was a Dutch painter in the Dutch painter at the start of the 20th century. In 1920, he set out his position as an artist with "De Stijl", where he explained that the essence of his artist ideas and themes, was simple. Painting is composed of colour and line; these elements must set an example with other forms of art in society, in order to gain success. He represents in his work, the ideas of unity; universal beauty.
He was and is still considered the founder of Modern Art.
Thank you to everyone who came to watch our production of the play "The Innkeepers Breakfast".
We are extremely proud and overjoyed with how the day turned out!
